What are touchdown zone lights (TDZL)?

Touchdown zone lights (TDZL) are rows of white lights arranged in pairs on either side of the runway centerline, starting 100 feet beyond the landing threshold and extending to 3,000 feet or the midpoint of the runway, whichever is less. They provide visual cues for the touchdown area of the runway.
